Project Overview
Since 2025, ATEB Cleaning Services has provided recurring environmental cleaning and janitorial service for a single medical practice in Worcester, Massachusetts. The practice occupies approximately 13,000 square feet, and ATEB cleans it three times a week.
The program covers every functional part of the facility: examination and treatment rooms, the waiting room and reception area, restrooms, staff offices and the break room, and the elevators, along with disinfection of high-touch areas, routine floor care, periodic stripping and waxing of hard floors, carpet extraction in the waiting areas, and interior windows and glass. The client’s identity is kept confidential.
The Challenge: One Facility, Many Different Environments
A 13,000-square-foot medical practice is not one cleaning job. It is several different environments under one roof, each with its own purpose, surfaces and patterns of use:
- Clinical spaces. Examination and treatment rooms are where cleaning standards matter most, and where cleaning has to respect medical equipment, restricted items and tasks that belong to the practice’s own staff.
- Patient-facing areas. The waiting room and reception are the first thing every patient sees, with heavy foot traffic, carpeted seating areas and many frequently touched surfaces.
- Elevators. Shared by every patient, visitor and staff member moving between floors, with buttons, handrails and doors touched all day.
- Restrooms. Used by patients, visitors and staff throughout the day, and judged by everyone who walks in.
- Administrative and staff areas. Offices, workstations and the break room, where documents, office equipment and personal belongings need care.
- Floors and glass. Hard floors and carpet across entrances, corridors, waiting areas, clinical spaces and staff areas, plus interior glass in reception and other areas that shows every fingerprint.
The challenge is bringing all of these needs into one recurring program, and covering roughly 13,000 square feet properly in three scheduled visits each week, without letting the less visible areas slip while the most visible ones get the attention.
ATEB’s Solution: One Coordinated Cleaning Program
ATEB runs the facility as a single, structured environmental cleaning program with a defined scope that covers clinical, public and staff areas. Three scheduled visits a week give the practice a dependable rhythm, and floor care, periodic hard-floor refinishing, carpet extraction and interior glass cleaning are all part of the same program rather than separate projects arranged with other vendors.
Examination and Treatment Rooms
In the examination and treatment rooms, ATEB cleans environmental surfaces and frequently touched areas and maintains floors and accessible surfaces. Cleaning and disinfection procedures are matched to the facility’s requirements, with attention to the risk of carrying contamination from one area to another. The work is coordinated with the practice’s operations, so cleaning fits around clinical activity instead of interrupting it.
Waiting Room and Reception
ATEB cleans the patient waiting area and reception spaces, including frequently touched surfaces, floors and interior glass and windows. The aim is simple: a clean, orderly and professional environment for every patient and visitor who walks through the door.
Restrooms
Restroom service covers fixtures, sinks, counters and accessible surfaces, cleaning and disinfection of the appropriate restroom surfaces, restroom floors, and emptying trash and replacing liners as the cleaning scope requires, so the restrooms stay presentable and clean between visits.
Elevators
Elevators are cleaned and sanitized as part of every program visit: call buttons, control panels, handrails, doors and interior surfaces that every patient, visitor and staff member touches, along with the elevator floor.
Disinfection Services
Disinfection is part of the program, not an afterthought. ATEB provides disinfection services for the facility’s high-touch areas, including door handles, counters, switches, elevator buttons and other frequently touched surfaces in the clinical rooms, waiting areas, restrooms and elevators, using products according to their labeled instructions, including contact times, and treating disinfection as a separate step from routine cleaning.
Staff Offices and Break Room
In the administrative work areas, ATEB cleans staff offices, accessible desks, counters and other surfaces, the break room’s surfaces and floors, and empties trash to keep shared spaces in order. Teams take care around documents, office equipment and personal belongings, which matters in any medical office where paperwork and equipment sit on many surfaces.
Floor Care: Routine Cleaning, Stripping and Waxing, Carpet Extraction
Floors are a large share of the work in a facility this size, and ATEB handles them at three levels:
- Routine floor cleaning at every visit across entrances, corridors, waiting areas, clinical spaces and staff areas, using methods suited to each flooring material and to the facility’s requirements.
- Periodic stripping and waxing of hard floors, removing worn finish and built-up soil and laying down fresh finish, so high-traffic hard floors stay protected and look maintained rather than dull and scuffed.
- Carpet extraction in the waiting lobbies and carpeted areas, deep-cleaning the carpet that takes the most foot traffic in the practice, beyond what routine vacuuming can reach.
Keeping routine cleaning and periodic floor restoration in one program means the practice does not have to schedule and manage a separate floor contractor.
Interior Windows and Glass
ATEB cleans interior windows and accessible glass surfaces, including the glass in reception and other assigned areas, removing visible fingerprints, smudges and surface marks so the practice looks as clean as it is.
What Makes Healthcare Cleaning Different
Medical office cleaning carries responsibilities that ordinary office janitorial service does not. This Worcester project reflects the realities of cleaning a working healthcare facility:
- Different areas need different approaches. Clinical rooms, waiting areas, restrooms and administrative offices do not share the same cleaning requirements, so the scope treats each type of space on its own terms.
- Cross-contamination prevention matters. Cleaning methods, the handling of equipment and the order in which areas are cleaned all affect whether contamination is carried from one space to another.
- Cleaning and disinfection are different processes. Cleaning removes soil from a surface; disinfection treats it. Where disinfection is required, products have to be used according to their labeled instructions, including the contact time the surface must stay wet.
- Coordination with the practice is essential. Healthcare cleaning has to respect clinical operations, sensitive equipment, restricted areas and the responsibilities that belong to medical personnel.
- Workload management affects quality. A facility of about 13,000 square feet with many room types needs a defined scope, realistic task allocation and enough time to do the work properly at each visit.
- Consistency is the real test. A recurring program has to hold the same standard across every assigned area, not just the rooms patients see first.
These are the standards a professionally managed healthcare cleaning program is built around: clear responsibilities, trained people, good communication with the client and a way of checking the work.
Trust and Access
Medical practices hold sensitive records, equipment and supplies, so who enters the building matters. ATEB runs background checks on its cleaning staff for every type of job, and ATEB Cleaning Services is fully insured and bonded.
Project Outcome
The result is an ongoing medical facility cleaning relationship, established in 2025, covering approximately 13,000 square feet with three scheduled visits per week. One recurring program now covers the practice’s clinical rooms, patient-facing areas, restrooms, elevators, staff spaces, disinfection of high-touch areas, floors from routine cleaning to periodic stripping, waxing and carpet extraction, and interior glass, giving the practice a single, coordinated cleaning service instead of a patchwork of separate vendors and tasks.
Medical Office Cleaning in Worcester, MA
Worcester’s medical practices, from primary care and specialty offices to clinics and dental practices, all face the same problem this practice did: many different kinds of space, high patient traffic and little room for inconsistency. Commercial cleaning for medical practices works best when it starts with the facility itself: a walkthrough of every room type, a defined scope for clinical, public and staff areas, floor care planned alongside routine cleaning, and a schedule built around how the practice operates.
ATEB provides medical office cleaning in Worcester and healthcare facility janitorial services across Worcester and Worcester County, as well as MetroWest, the Merrimack Valley, the Nashoba Valley and Southern New Hampshire.
